Does Stella move?
Stella (Stationary edition) is a kiosk, and does not move. However, she has wheels, and you can roll her anywhere in your business.
Am I eligible to hire Stella?
Your business must be located in eligible ZIPs in the continental United States (additional regions will be available in the future). You must be the owner of a physical retail business or authorized to enter into a lease agreement on behalf of such a business. We maintain discretion as to whether we allow Stella to work in certain types of establishments. Your payment will be refunded if you are not eligible.
What types of businesses does Stella work well in?
Stella works well in stores selling wine/liquor, shoe, beauty supplies, clothing, toy, gift, hunting supplies, hardware, sporting goods, stationery, office supply, electronics, jewelry, and more. She also can work in gyms, spas, restaurants, and other customer-facing spaces.
What types of stores is Stella not optimized for?
If you are primarily selling adult-themed items, then Stella is not optimized for your space due to downstream provider limitations.
My business isn't a store or restaurant. Can Stella work here?
If you have a physical location that is not open to the public (ex. senior care facility), Stella is not optimized for your location. If you have a physical establishment that is open to the public but does not primarily sell goods (ex. a spa, hair salon, car rental shop), you may still be eligible. Stella can highlight relevant promos and greet customers.
Can I hire multiple Stellas?
For now, to ensure supply for all stores, you may only hire Stella per physical retail location. Multiple Stellas will be able to work together in the future.
Can I fire Stella any time?
Yes. You may fire Stella and return her for free after 180 days. We'll include return shipping back for free. A $99 fee will apply if you fire Stella before her first 180 days.
What's the difference between Stella Stationary and Mobile?
Stella Stationary greets shoppers, answers questions, and is your store's smartest salesperson — all from a fixed location. Stella Mobile (coming soon) moves around your store and tracks inventory automatically.
Where should I place Stella Stationary in my store?
We recommend placing Stella in a high-traffic corner of your store, but not inside at the front. For some stores (ex. those in malls), you may place Stella outside the entrance to attract foot traffic. Most businesses have a "decompression zone" where customers ignore items in the first 10-15 feet after they enter inside. Avoid placing Stella here to ensure that customers feel comfortable interacting with her without blocking the entrance to the store.
How much usage is included in my plan?
The Basic plan includes 2,000 AI credits per month, which is roughly equivalent to an hour of Q&A per day for Stella. Shopper greetings are free and do not count against your credits. This is sufficient for most stores, but additional AI credits are available for purchase if you exceed your limits. Credits do not roll over to the next month.
How long does assembly take?
Assembling Stella Stationary takes less than 30 minutes.
How do I train Stella?
You can tell Stella about your business, teach her about relevant promos, and provide her with other directives using Manager Mode.
Can Stella tell shoppers where items are and their stock status?
Stella does not track live stock status. However, you can teach here where items generally are.
What languages does Stella speak?
Stella defaults to American English. However, if a shopper speaks with Stella in one of the 20 most popular languages, Stella may be able to understand and respond in their language.
If Stella is damaged while I employ her, what are the fees?
Fees are priced at-cost and vary depending on the damage. Some examples for Stella Stationary (please see your lease agreement for the latest pricing): A whole-unit replacement fee is $699, a top module is $199, a compute module is $399, and a bottom module is $99. Wear and tear on plastic parts is completely fine, and you will not be charged on return.
Is there an upfront payment for hardware?
No. All hardware and shipping is included. You must return Stella when you decide to end her employment. Return shipping is free.
Where is the company behind Stella?
We are a small team located in Los Angeles, CA and are backed by leading Silicon Valley investors.
Where is Stella manufactured?
We manufacture Stella in our Los Angeles factory.
What is the catch? Is pricing this low sustainable?
Recent advancements in AI and hardware compute capabilities make Stella possible. Our pricing is sustainable on our end. We want as many business owners as possible to be able to hire Stella.
